CMSA Appeals Mechanism

PLEASE NOTE that candidates that wish to lodge an appeal against the outcome of his/her written examination results must do so in accordance with the provisions of the CMSA’s Appeals Mechanism Policy.  Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) are not made available to candidates for review in accordance with the CMSA’s Appeals Mechanism Policy.  A copy of the Appeals Mechanism Policy is available at www.cmsa.co.za

Examination Applications

The regulations for the H Dip Med Man(SA) have been submitted to the HPCSA and we are awaiting their promulgation.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CURRENTLY YOU CANNOT APPLY FOR THIS EXAMINATION

Requirements

2 years of supervised medical practice which may include the internship year and the year of compulsory community service.

    •    Supervised training: A minimum of 16 weeks of supervised medical management training in teaching hospitals or in university satellite departments in non-teaching hospitals or in university satellite departments in non-teaching hospitals or District Health services and CMSA accredited health facilities. This may be done in four three months period over a maximum period of two years.
    •    Part-time training: A minimum of two years. Certification is required from the‚Ä®Chief Executive officers or Head of the Departments that candidates have fulfilled the requirements stipulated in Appendix A.
    •    Course work: recommended readings as per Guidelines
    •    Clinical Audit and Governance meetings: Monthly (at least) clinical audit and governance meetings must be conducted in accredited hospitals
    •    Clinical management Meetings: Monthly (at least) clinical audit and governance meetings must be conducted in accredited hospitals
    •    Formal discussions: The Medical manager, Senior Medical officers or Chief executive officers should at least do weekly teaching sessions to discuss appropriate medical management problems.
