Prof Shivesh Maharaj

President

Prof Shivesh Maharaj is the Academic head Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand and a senior clinical lecturer.

With well over 15 years of clinical experience as a specialist in Otorhinolaryngology, Prof Maharaj. successfully performed over 400 endoscopic surgeries in the last 10 years, including but not only limited to the repair of subtotal or total perforations, Cholesteatoma surgery , Middle ear surgery including middle ear implants, Stapes surgery, Eustachian Tube and Lateral Skull Base Surgery.

He has authored many textbooks and has published more than 130 papers published in local and international journals with numerous surgical video demonstrations. He is currently part of Editorial Boards and a Reviewer of more than 15 journals (Local & International). Prof Maharaj is a speaker and presenter in his area of expertise and has been invited to give lectures at more than 200 local and international conferences and workshops. He played a pivotal role in establishing the MCQ question base for the FCORL primaries and edited, refined and expanded the MCQ database for the FCORL finals.
