Part I

  • must be qualified (dental or medical) to practise for at least six months
  • produce documented evidence, in the form of a portfolio of experience and/or education and/or training in the chosen subdivision
    • PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR PORTFOLIO MUST BE SUBMITTED 3 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION (IE 15 DECEMBER FOR THE FIRST SEMESTER AND 15 MAY FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS).  IF YOUR PORTFOLIO IS NOT ACCEPTED YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ENTRY TO THE WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS.
  • This examination is currently not being offered as we are still awaiting promulgations by the HPCSA.

Exit Examination: 2 written papers.  Oral examination.

The medal of the SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIETY OF MAXILLO-FACIAL AND ORAL SURGEONS was endowed in 1990 and is awarded to candidates who achieve outstanding results in Fellowship examination of the College of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons of South Africa.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) are not made available to candidates for review in accordance with the CMSA’s Appeals Mechanism Policy.
